As parents, it is sometimes very difficult to understand our child who are experiencing a different kind of adolescence than us. They live through puberty where western pop culture and kpop culture are their main influence. The ever famous generational gap exists to pull us apart from your child.
“My kids never listen to what I say!”
“I don’t understand why are they behaving like that!”
“I don’t know how to deal with their issues”
“I am doing this for their own good, but why do they rebel?”
“Am I a bad parent for not knowing how to deal with their problems?”
“My parents don’t understand me! It is so frustrating!”
“Why are they always so naggy, its annoying?”
“They don’t trust me with anything!”
“I wish my parents will just leave me alone”
“Will I ever be good enough for my parents?”
Giving me the opportunity to attend I Am Gifted!™ was one of the best decisions my parents have made for me. Before the programme, I was a lazy, impatient, unsociable and irresponsible person who always argued with my parents. This school holiday programme not only helped in my academics, but empowered me to be more confident, positive and focused on all the goals I set in life. I appreciate how much my parents love me now and understand that without them, I wouldn’t be where I am. I Am Gifted!™ is a MUST-GO for children of all ages.
Is your child feeling lost and confused about their future?
Are they always unmotivated to begin their day?
Do they not understand the importance of money?
If these are some of the traits your child exhibits, then it is just the typical Gen-Z traits. Having everything served to them on a silver platter. The children of today are too unconcerned and thoughtless about their own future because they are too comfortable. They are unaware of the real value of money and often their goals are quickly forgotten.
A GOAL PROPERLY SET IS HALFWAY REACHED.
“Before I Am Gifted!™, I was unmotivated and never set specific goals in my life. I found studying boring and always scored D’s for Maths. After attending the school holiday programme, I transformed my mindset and found it easier to achieve better grades in my exams. I started to score A’s consistently for Maths. I also found myself arguing less with my parents.”
It is an inescapable truth that technology is fully integrated into our children’s lives. It is now, not only just an indulgence, but a sort of necessity. However, technology is a double-edged sword; where if used unwisely, it can be harmful.
This is where we see our children’s addiction to electronic devices begin. A single Facebook or Instagram post grants them an almost instantaneous gratification. Or the infinite TikTok videos, which preys on young mind’s short attention spans. Even the computer games which ground our children to stay at home but expose them to a bigger risk of meeting anonymous players worldwide.
It is neither yours nor your children’s fault that the syllabus today is fixed in a way that eludes and confuses students. To add salt to a wound, your children are not taught the right way to study and have no idea how to make effective notes. Moreover, each subject requires many textbooks, with lengthy explanations, that may further confuse your children who do not know how to pinpoint the keywords.
It ALL boils down to the strategies your children can use to overcome these problems…
IF IT IS POSSIBLE FOR OTHERS,
IT'S POSSIBLE FOR ME.
IT IS ONLY
A QUESTION OF STRATEGIES!
The Learning Mastery skills helped me study subjects much more efficiently. I learnt to manage time between my studies, 2 CCAs and music classes (I was pursuing a diploma in music). I set a goal to be the top 25% in school, and despite failures, I learnt to persevere and learn from my mistakes.
At the end of Sec 3, I topped Biology and Chemistry and ranked among the top 30 — far surpassing my goal. I even won the Edusave Merit Bursary and Good Progress Award for the vast improvements in my grades! “
